The Outpatient Oncology Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides assessments, counseling, education, and advocacy services to adult oncology patients, their families and caregivers. In addition, the oncology social worker provides education and support services to medical staff and the medical community regarding the psychosocial impact of cancer. The Oncology Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide consultative support to medical and surgical oncologists and will respond to the emergent psychosocial needs of oncology patients.
Master's Degree from an accredited School of Social Work and possession of an active and unrestricted Clinical Social Worker License issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences Examiners. License must be current and in good standing.
Must have a minimum of 3 years post-graduate social work clinical experience in a social service or healthcare setting (i.e. case management or social worker).
Experience in obtaining and documenting a comprehensive psychosocial assessment.
Knowledge and skills in the areas of individual, group, and family therapy.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilize the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).
Knowledge of child, elder abuse and domestic violence reporting requirements, as well as other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, and ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy.
Basic understanding of community resources.
Demonstrated awareness of, and sensitivity to, dealings with cultural and socioeconomic diversity.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft functionality.
Social Work experience in an outpatient oncology setting.
Basic knowledge and understanding of types and stages of cancer, including treatment modalities such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C).
THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT.
Must be able to travel between buildings on hospital campus and off-site as needed.
Must be able to occasionally flex time to handle emergencies and work weekends or other shifts as assigned.
