We are excited to announce that the Department of Psychology at the University of New Haven invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor positions in Counseling or Counselor Education & Supervision beginning Fall 2018.
We are seeking applicants with expertise in Counseling or Counselor Education & Supervision to teach masters-level counseling courses (e.g., counseling theories and skills, development, research methods and statistics, multicultural counseling competencies, professional issues in counseling). One of the two faculty hired will serve as the practicum and internship coordinator for master's students. A PhD in Counseling or Counselor Education & Supervision is required (ABDs very close to completion will be considered); degrees from CACREP accredited programs are preferred. Candidates for the Internship Coordinator position should also have some supervision experience as well as ability to network and coordinator with various internship sites.
The successful candidate must be a dynamic instructor, able to teach courses within Counseling or Counselor Education & Supervision. They will also have to be able provide supervision of counseling students. We are a department that encourages the development of new and engaging courses that emphasize experiential education. Therefore, demonstrated creativity in developing new courses or with innovative ways to deliver courses is desirable. Some undergraduate teaching will also be expected. Our faculty are expected to establish/continue a strong and independent program of research. Research specialization is open. Other duties include participation in student advising, faculty-mentored research, thesis mentorship, and assisting the department in further development of our graduate counseling program.
