Poplar Springs Hospital, a 208 bed acute care and residential facility, is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, sexually abusive youth services, as well as programs for active duty military.
The Residential Milieu Manager is responsible for the overall management of the residential programs including providing supervision to staff, managing daily milieu; ensuring compliance with the daily program schedule, interventions, and motivators to promote resident's participation in treatment. The milieu manager supervises the MHTs and nurses on shift conducting groups and ensures the resident's individual goals and progress is documented appropriately. The milieu manager oversees the behavior modification program and continuously assesses and evaluates effectiveness of the program design. The milieu manager acts as the main point of contact for therapists and clinical team for program operation information and communication; attends Flash meetings daily, attends treatment teams weekly, ensures treatment reports are updated to reflect both medical and clinical progress of the resident. The milieu manager manages the therapeutic phase/point system; making sure staff are following procedure and completing monitoring sheets for residents. The milieu manager is responsible for maintaining and implementing systems and policies relating to the Milieu, Acts as the Safety Champion of the facility; works closely with corporate loss control representative to ensure the safe operations of the facility, conducts weekly rounds and contraband searches. The milieu manager will assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and preceptor-ship of nursing staff and direct care staff, including interviewing, training, orientation, and evaluations. Tracks and maintains training of direct care staff, daily FTE management and scheduling.
