About The Ridge:
The Ridge Behavioral Health System is seeking a dynamic and talented Recreational Therapist. Located in Lexington, KY, the heart of the Bluegrass, The Ridge Behavioral Health System offers a healing environment that is reassuring to a patients' sense of security and confidentiality. Dedicated to excellence, The Ridge Behavioral Health System is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as a licensed, 110-bed hospital, providing psychiatric (mental health) and chemical dependency (drug & alcohol rehabilitation) services to children, adolescents and adults. Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a six-day per week basis, days and evenings. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for developing and implementing various aspects of the recreational therapy program based upon each units needs and demographics.
Position Specific Competencies:
Develops and implements recreational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with and attends the interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
Provides therapy consistent with level of growth, development, age, and functioning.
Provides therapy consistent with overall treatment goals.
Contributes to program design within the recreational therapy department.
Sufficiently plans and prepares programs that are clinically appropriate.
Therapist demonstrates sound application of RT theory and methodology.
Demonstrates expert skill with complex, or especially difficult patients.
Effectively establishes rapport with patients.
Models assertive and respectful behavior.
Ensures patient safety by ensuring compliance of gym rules during recreational therapy groups.
Follows proper NCI de-escalation techniques when handling crisis situations.
Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
Uses appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture.
Completes RT section of the treatment plan within 72 hours of admission for assigned patients.
Completes RT assessment within 72 hours of admission for assigned patients.
Completes progress notes within 7 days of admission for assigned patients
Progress notes are documented legibly, accurately, and objectively and adhere to documentation policies and procedures.
Documents group education notes accurately, legibly and adheres to documentation policies and procedures.
Document & reports incidents immediately.
