Shaller Gerweck Music, Inc. is a fast-growing small business that provides creative arts therapy services in medical, mental health and school settings in Salem, OR and surrounding area. We aim to hire an Art Therapist to join our creative arts therapy team providing services for an established mental health treatment and prevention program. Our art therapists provide art therapy group treatment and prevention services to Native American Indian high school students with a variety of mental health and human development needs. Services take place in both school and behavioral health clinic settings and address client issues including: trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, problematic behaviors, grief/loss and eating disorders. Sessions and charting take place in an art therapy studio room which has ample storage space for materials and projects. A generous budget for art therapy supplies and related materials/equipment is provided. Our team members provide a consistent therapeutic presence, meeting 3-5x/week with group members. The Art Therapist we seek: is flexible, passionate and able to relate to teens; will bring their voice, strengths and ideas to our team; can work autonomously with support and with clinical consultation/supervision; and will collaborate effectively and regularly with a creative arts therapy team and an interdisciplinary clinical team. Applicants desiring part-time and/or full-time work will be considered. Start Date – End of August 2018.
Applicants must be a licensed mental health therapist: ATR-BC, LCSW, LPC or Psychologist with a master's degree in art therapy and at least one year field experience practicing as an art therapist. Applicants with experience implementing culturally sensitive art therapy interventions to address the needs of high-risk teens are preferred. Applicants should have experience working with an interdisciplinary team and possess strong communication and group facilitation skills. As a condition of hire, selected applicant must provide or complete: current resume, copy of valid therapy license, copy of highest college degree, background check with fingerprinting, CPR certification, and immunization records/requirements. President and owner, Jessica Shaller-Gerweck, MM, MT-BC is a board certified music therapist with fifteen years of experience in medical and mental health settings. She has advanced training in trauma, grief and loss, neurologic rehabilitation techniques, music and imagery and stress/pain management. Jessica specializes in culturally sensitive and relevant music therapy for at-risk youth that is holistic in nature and promotes resiliency and skill development. Jessica provides music therapy sessions, creative arts therapies program development and music for wellness/prevention. Scott Gerweck is co-owner and offers music recording, composition, arranging and engineering services, as well as instrumental lessons, live performance and conducting. We are excited to be able to expand our service capabilities at this time and look forward to the addition of another art therapist to our creative arts therapy team.
