The Department of Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies at Assumption College invites applications for a full time, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice beginning August 2019. Applicants with expertise in substance use disorders and other types of addictions are desired.
Assumption College is a residential, comprehensive, Catholic college, sponsored by the Augustinians of the Assumption, incorporating liberal education and pre-professional studies. Successful candidates will have experience teaching in higher education. Candidates will be involved in community and professional service activities.
The Department of Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies offers an undergraduate degree in Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies with concentrations in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physical and Occupational Therapy and Working with Youth in the Community. The Department offers a major in Health Sciences as well. The HSRS Department also houses two CORE/CACREP accredited master’s degree programs in Rehabilitation Counseling (online and traditional), a master’s degree in Health Advocacy and a State of Massachusetts, Department of Education, Licensed School Counseling Program. Applicants will predominantly teach in the undergraduate programs but may be invited to teach in the graduate programs in Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling and/or Health Advocacy.
Faculty duties include a 4/4 course load during the academic year with some opportunity for teaching during the summer as well as the usual non-teaching duties, including advising and committee service. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Candidates must possess, at minimum, a Master’s Degree with a Ph.D. or Ed.D preferred. Candidates should hold a degree in Counselor Education, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, Mental Health Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Family Counseling or a closely related field. It is expected that candidates have professional experience working in the Human Service related fields and have the relevant credentials and licenses to practice within their field.
