Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. In addition to the living units, the facility houses our full service cafeteria and New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities. We provide numerous recreational activities including an in-ground swimming pool, game room, playground, basketball courts, and gymnasium. The multi-disciplinary staff at Laurel Oaks collaborates to ensure that services provided are clinically and medically appropriate and highly coordinated among all treatment disciplines. Laurel Oaks specializes in the treatment of youth who have multiple challenges and special needs. All children served at Laurel Oaks have a primary psychiatric disorder but most also have co-occurring conditions such as intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or physical/sexual abuse victimization. Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is currently seeking a Therapist (PRN).Â Â The Therapist will:
Demonstrate ability to establish therapeutic rapport with patients and family members and engage them in the change process.
Provide a safe therapeutic environment that protects the patientâ€™s rights.
Document all clinical and other pertinent care activities within 24 hours of service.
Participate as integral member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Hold initial therapy sessions with the patient within one day of assignment.
Accurately posts charges for therapy services within one day of the service.
Summarize therapeutic problems and gains at all times of Master Treatment Plan review.
Inform physicians, nurses, educators and unit staff of key therapy issues on assigned patients.
Develop Preliminary (within 72 hours) and Master Treatment Plan (within 10 days), and updates clinical issues every 30 days or as needed (2 x week on Acute unit).
Demonstrate knowledge of cultural, gender and developmental factors that influence mental health issues and effectively uses the patientâ€™s strengths in the change process.
Serve as a positive role model for staff and patients.
Complie with all regulatory guidelines and Laurel Oaks policies regarding completion of Preliminary and Master Treatment Plans; updates clinical issues weekly or as needed; and ensures treatment plans are mailed to parents/guardians and referral sources on a monthly basis.
Ensure that Master Treatment Plan has discharge criteria and a plan which is reviewed and updated at the Master Treatment Plan meeting.
