JOB DESCRIPTION: Endoscopy Technician LOCATION: Woodbine DEPARTMENT: Outpatient Surgery WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Flex JOB SUMMARY: Prepares patient and equipment for endoscopic procedures and assists with procedures. Maintains and modifies the highly technical equipment before, during and following the procedure. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinic area. Directly accountable to the Nurse Supervisor and the Clinical Director. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction. Serves as a part of the Care Team and therefore is accountable for demonstrating behaviors and skills that support the success of the team. Self-motivated and support staff in all areas as needed. Participates in cross training. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrated good organizational skills and effective communication skills. Demonstrates good hand\eye coordination. Demonstrates ability to perform mathematical calculations. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Shows flexibility and resourcefulness when faced with increased workload or unforeseen circumstances and is available for additional duties within scope of practice. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required. At least 6 months to 1 year of experience as a nursing assistant/healthcare with patient contact required. Recent Central Processing or instrument processing experience preferred. BLS certification required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Requires lifting patients, bending and the ability to stand on feet for 8-hour shifts. Work is performed in a clean, well-ventilated, well-equipped environment with possible exposure to patients with infectious diseases or to bodily fluids which may contain infectious agents as well as anesthetics and chemicals. Adheres to dress code. Appearance is neat and clean. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Wears ID badge while on duty. Completes time card honestly and accurately. Limits lunch and breaks to scheduled time and maintains flexibility to allow coverage and efficiency within the GMC/OSW.
