The CVICU is a 28 bed high acuity unit. We provide care to a varied group of cardiac and vascular critical care patients. Some of the experience and skills in the CVICU that we provide are recovering fresh open heart surgery patients, hypothermia, tPA, balloon pump, impella, SLED, aquapheresis, and caring for lumbar drains. We have recently implemented a palliative care and inpatient hospice program for our patient population. We perform over 600 open heart surgeries and over 1200 vascular surgeries each year. This lays the foundation in establishing Banner Health's Vision of Banner Heart Hospital to be the Cardiac Hub for the East Valley. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting.
