Assistant Professor and Clinical Director, Community Counseling Clinic

The Counseling and Development Program of the Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Educational Studies at Winthrop University is seeking an innovative faculty leader to serve as the Community Counseling Center Clinical Director for a temporary nine-month, non-tenure track position (with the possibility of renewal and summer work). The Clinical Director will provide oversight to the operation and management of the Winthrop’s Community Counseling Center. Current licensure as an LPC-S in South Carolina, North Carolina or demonstrated eligibility for LPC-S in South or North Carolina is required. Duties include clinical supervision for master's level students, development of policies and procedures, and collaboration with other units on campus. This position includes expectations of an active member of the core counseling faculty. The successful applicant will teach and advise master's-level students while serving on program, department, and university committees.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clinical supervision of master's-level counseling students;
• Teach graduate-level counseling courses;
• Provide leadership within a counseling clinic, including ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with stakeholders within the university and local community;
• Ensure that the Community Counseling Clinic operates smoothly and follows all ethical standards, legal requirements, and state regulations including maintaining clinic policies, procedures, and records; supervising graduate assistants and undergraduate student workers assigned to the clinic; and collaborate with other program faculty;
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to multicultural and social justice counseling competencies as evidenced in clinical work, supervision, and teaching;
• Collaborate with the Program Director/Practicum and Internship Coordinator to ensure that students in the program reach expected clinical competency;
• Work within a collaborative team environment.
• Demonstrates a counselor-first professional identity as evidenced via credentials and engagement with professional counseling organizations;
• Actively engage as core faculty member by advising program students and serving on program, department, and university committees;
• Maintain requirements for serving as a core faculty member through sustained memberships in professional counseling organizations, professional development, and professional service and advocacy (e.g., engagement and presentations in local, state, or national organizations);
• Provide support at the departmental level with curriculum development, accreditation, program planning, and student recruitment;
• Teach and engage during evenings, summers, and occasional weekends, as needed; and
• Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.
