Role Summary:
PA focused on acute orthopaedic injuries presenting to the Adult Emergency Department during the hours of 2pm - 12midnight. This position will work in close collaboration with the Orthopaedic residents and will focus on consults, treatments and procedures; may also assist in MCJCH Pediatric Emergency Department as need be; may also assist with adult inpatient consults/problem-solving as need be. The position will be four 10-hour shifts a week including weekends.
**Ideal candidates will have a TN license and 1+ year/s of Orthopaedic experience**

Key Responsibilities:
- Assesses, plans and provides patient care under the supervision or physician or podiatrist
- Examines patients, performs comprehensive physical examinations
- Compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination
- Performs and assists with ED and floor-based orthopaedic procedures, including closed reduction of joints, fractures, and splint application.
- Utilizes evidence-based practice guidelines or protocols in an individualized, dynamic plan of care that can be applied across continuum.
- Implements and modifies plan of care
- Manages further diagnostic testing through ordering, interpretation, performance and supervision
- Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude is required
- Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary health dare team
- Demonstrates professional practice behavior including preceptor/mentoring, education and instruction of students, nursing staff, nurses, graduate and novice physician assistants.
- Actively participates in Grand Rounds, APN Council Meetings, unit meetings and M&M presentations.
- Maintains CEUs and membership in a professional organization.
- Seeks opportunities for active engagement in research and analysis of evidence-based practice
Basic Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program (or equivalent experience) - required
- 12 Months of orthopaedic physician assistant experience - required
- Certified Physician Assistant - required
- National Board Specialty Certification - preferred
- Tennessee Licensure - required
- DEA Licensed - preferred
