Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is a private, non-profit organization with a proven track record of providing behavioral health crisis services to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Established in 1992, the BCRI mission is to provide timely and effective behavioral health crisis response services and treatment in the least restrictive environment.
BCRI serves Baltimore as the city’s first and only comprehensive crisis response system of care, providing a telephone crisis hotline, mobile crisis teams, medical detoxification, case management, crisis residential alternatives, in-home support and critical incident response teams, along with community and police education services.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ROLE
BCRI is on a mission to be Maryland’s premier comprehensive behavioral health crisis response system of care. We are committed to individualized treatment that serves the needs of our community while also fostering recovery, inspiring hope and demonstrating compassion. We’re looking for a highly skilled Executive Director to help us fulfill this important undertaking.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for BCRI's staff, programs, expansion, and execution in pursuit of its mission. This seasoned leader will not only understand BCRI’s behavioral health crisis response system of care core programs, operations, and business plans, but also the current trends impacting the viability of long-term delivery of these services to the communities served. Key to this understanding is proven experience in developing and implementing strategic funding plans aimed at long-term organizational sustainability. Prior experience leading and identifying qualified staff is essential, and established relationships with local community groups a plus. Above all, he / she will be comfortable in a leadership role that demands clear communication, decisiveness, and effective collaboration across diverse groups of stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Leadership & Management:

Provide executive direction of the daily operations of the organization and all program strategy, compliance, quality assurance, and program efficiency.

Articulate staffing requirements for efficient operations, maintain a strong culture and work climate that attracts and retains staff, and drives the organization’s mission.

Create and oversee execution of comprehensive business plans for BCRI’s behavioral health crisis care operations and programs for the attainment of stated goals and objectives.

Build, lead, coach and retain an effective high-performance senior leadership team dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through highly successful program implementation, community engagement, and fundraising targets.

Provide leadership to and be responsible for a culturally diverse staff, clientele and community whose skills, cultures and spoken languages reflect the communities BCRI serves.
Board Relations & Development:

Work closely with the board of directors and committees, informing, assessing, and addressing issues that affect the organization.

Report on the organization’s results related to developing a culturally diverse staff reflective of the communities BCRI services.

Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex officio of each committee.

Seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing operations.

Leverage board member relationships to help achieve organizational fundraising goals.
Fundraising, Financial Management & Compliance

Oversee development of actionable plans that ensure organizational funding and consistent monthly cash flow management.

Set and meet annual fundraising goals to secure financial support from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government funding sources.

Ensure organizational compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.

Approve major systems expenditures and implementations related to services delivered.
Communication & Public Relations

Represent the organization and increase awareness by acting as BCRI’s spokesperson to liaise with key stakeholders, community partners and local media.

Oversee all external communication materials including, website, marketing materials, newsletters, and social media content.

Serve as the face of the organization and actively participate in external events, both increasing visibility, credibility, and brand in the market, and developing strategic partnerships that promote community awareness and expand the program.
