Nurse- Emergency Department
The Emergency Department (ED) nurse is a professional who manages the care of patients who present to the ED with a wide range of problems, from the non-urgent complaint to the life threatening emergent crisis. Working in conjunction with other nursing staff, physicians and health care providers from all services, the ED nurse assesses the patient's immediate needs, prioritizes care and organizes and plans the patient's treatment from admission to the ED until disposition. The nurse coordinates and facilitates care to restore optimal patient health, minimizing complications, to achieve a positive patient outcome within a dynamic and often hectic emergency room environment. In order to accomplish this, the ED nurse uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patients
