PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Serves as the clinical operational representative and advocate in the design, development, implementation, support and adoption of the electronic medical record and other patient care systems. Works closely with facility and corporate leaders, multi-disciplinary teams, Information Technology, and Clinical Informatics to drive clinical optimization in the transformation of patient care.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in the implementation of approved processes, recognizes 'work arounds' and other non-approved practices, and acts as a change agent in the development and promotion of process revision/redesign to maximize system functionality and efficiency, optimize use of systems, and improve outcomes and patient and clinician satisfaction.

Assists in analysis, problem solving and process re-engineering activities related to issues surrounding electronic information systems.

Identifies, collects and reports baseline and post implementation metrics and data through observations and audits for assigned projects

Conducts rounds and communicates regularly with and provides assistance to end-users. Builds relationships by demonstrating a clear and predictable service.

Acts as a change agent and reinforces adoption strategies.

Educates units on existing functionality, new enhancements and upgrades.

Applies clinical knowledge, systems and analysis skills, knowledge of current and future computer applications, and project planning and implementation skills to achieve defined objectives of sustained technology solutions and processes.

Identifies barriers to project success and communicates effectively to application and project leaders to overcome barriers

Responds to requests with high level analysis.

Evaluate global need, value, and impact.

Route project-specific requests to appropriate individual or team..

Develop and provide optimal roll out and evaluation strategies in support of new projects/solutions (engage in projects at implementation planning, execution, and evaluation phases)

Maintain alignment of organizational focus, understand and contribute to solutions (technology or process) for emerging issues; identify integration points across efforts

Performs assigned work safely adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.

Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors

Performs other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

BS in clinical discipline such as nursing; Master's degree in clinical discipline or information technology preferred

Five (5) years of experience in health care information systems with emphasis on business and clinical analysis and process improvement.

Cerner application experience preferred.
