You.
You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a Medical Dosimetrist.
Your compassion is tangible: patients feel it in the hand they hold. Families feel it in your prayers. Colleagues feel it in your support.
Youâ™re equally comfortable with generating dose distributions and dose calculations, directing the treatment planning process as designated, and providing excellent customer service.
Youâ™re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.
Us.
Lutheran Medical Center is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. Our 249-bed community-based hospital provides comprehensive, specialty care to the poor, the vulnerable, our communities and each other. Dating back to 1905, we are proud of the rich history and inspiring mission our hospital has embodies for over 110 years.
Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, weâ™ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.
We.
Together weâ™ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. Weâ™ll honor each otherâ™s dignity and surpass the standards we set. Weâ™ll encourage joy, demand safety and take pride in our integrity.
Weâ™ll laugh at each otherâ™s jokes (even the bad ones). Weâ™ll hello and high five. Weâ™ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.
Weâ™re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.
Your day.
As a Medical Dosimetrist, you need to know how to:
- Prepare radiation therapy treatment plans according to physicianâ™s dose prescription using computerized methods for review and approval by the physician and medical physicist. Calculate patient radiation therapy dose prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist using computer and hand-calculation techniques.
- Prepare contours of areas to be planned and treated. Design and fabricate compensating filters, shielding blocks, bolus and molds as required.
- Enter information into record and verify system detailing information relating to target dose, skin dose, off-axis dose, field weighting and placement of wedges, shields, and compensating devices.
- Assist radiation therapists in the implementation of patient treatment plans. Perform/assist in patient simulation process. Position patient in Computed Tomography for simulation.
- Communicate to physician and physicist any unusual patient treatment and/or setups.
Your experience.
We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:
- Associateâ™s Degree or Bachelorâ™s Degree in Radiation Therapy or equivalent degree in Medical Dosimetry, required
- Current registration as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board, required within two (2) years of hire
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required
- At least one (1) year of experience, preferred
Your next move.
Now that you know more about being a Medical Dosimetrist on our team we hope youâ™ll join us. At SCL Health youâ™ll reaffirm every day how much you love this work, and why you were called to it in the first place.
