This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The MHS RN Care Manger is responsible for ECT Procedures; assisting with scheduling appointments for the patient for the initial evaluation and treatment sessions, complete RN Assessments, Clinical Reminders, perform various depression and cognitive rating scales (e.g., a PHQ-9 for depression symptomatology and a Montréal Cognitive Assessment, or MoCA, for cognitive evaluation) and assist with patient preparation for the ECT procedures. The MHS RN Care Manger is responsible for Ketamine Treatments; assisting with scheduling appointments for the patient for the initial evaluation and treatment sessions, complete RN Assessments, Clinical Reminders, perform various depression and cognitive rating scales (e.g., a PHQ-9 for depression symptomatology and a Montréal Cognitive Assessment, or MoCA, for cognitive evaluation) and assist with patient preparation for the Ketamine treatments. Additionally, the RN Care Manager will be available to help monitor the patient during the 40-minute Ketamine infusion session as well as post treatment to include monitoring patient for 2 hours using depression, cognitive and dissociative rating scales as well as psychiatric nursing assessment skills. The MHS RN Care Manager is responsible for services and support to Veterans through the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Teams model of care. BHIP provides a foundation for collaborative teams of Mental Health professionals who work together to provide Veteran centered care, care coordination, and access to mental health care. The practice of the RN Care Manager in the clinical setting encompasses a broad array of clinical activities including but not limited to, health promotion and health maintenance; intake screening, evaluation and triage; care management; suicide assessment and safety planning; treatment planning; psychoeducation; psychoeducation health groups; clinical reminders; provision of therapeutic and safe environments; promotion of self-care activities; administration of psycho-biological treatment regimens and monitoring response and effects; crisis intervention and stabilization; and psychiatric rehabilitation. The MHS RN Care Manager is responsible for the coordination and clinical care of Veterans served in the Outpatient Mental Health Setting. The RN Care Manager is responsible for providing a wide range of patient care, treatments and charting activities required in the MHC. The RN Care Manager must possess knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated efforts and self-direction in carrying out complex assignments. The RN Care Manager is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing direct Veteran care. The RN Care Manager uses the nursing process and Evidence-Based practices to perform nursing functions related to coordination of patient care utilizing patient centered practices, and a focus on excellence in nursing care and customer service. The MHS RN Care Manager performs duties in such a way as to encourage Veteran efforts towards goals for recovery and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment while promoting a sense of worth and dignity for the Veteran. Quality of Care is measured by Evidence-Based Clinical Reminders, Measurement Based Care (MBC) and local Performance Measures. The RN Care Manager assesses Veterans and prioritizes urgency of needs based on condition and information obtained from the Veteran. The RN Care Manager independently initiates emergency action in life threatening situations such as cardiac and/or respiratory arrest, disruptive behaviors, etc. and alerts others. The MHS RN Care Manager is proficient to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care based on comprehensive holistic components.
