St. Luke's Health System in Boise is seeking a CNA to join our Medical/Surgical unit (6E)! Our patient population is vast, which allows our team to build competence in a variety of skillsets and specialties. We work closely with Bariatric, Acute Care Surgery, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, and Cystic Fibrosis providers to provide the best patient-centered care possible to our patients. Unit/Position Summary6 East is a fast-paced 35 bed Med-Surg unit that is an ideal place to build strong clinical skills while caring for an increasingly diverse patient population. Typical RN to patient ratios on this unit are 1:5, with exceptions frequently made for higher acuity patients. For CNAs, the ratios are typically 1:8-10. Most of our patient population is made up of post-surgical patients recovering from a variety of procedures. For over 10 years, 6 East has been designated as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric patients. In addition, surgical specialties that we care for on our unit include Colorectal, Urology, Vascular, Gynecological, General Acute Care Surgery, and Plastic/Reconstructive procedures. Cystic Fibrosis patients are admitted here for treatment during exacerbations, and a wide variety of other general medical patients are admitted to us from the Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, or one of our Intensive Care Units.
6E provides care to adult patients with general medical conditions and/or post-surgical abdominal, vascular, urology, bariatric and gynecology patients. Our team includes RNs, CNAs, Case Managers, Educator, leadership (Manager, Assistant Nurse Managers) as well as RT, PT, Pharmacy and Dietitians. Boise 6 East Med/Surg Unit is a 35 bed combination of general medical patients as well as post-surgical patients. 6 East vision is a commitment to providing patient-centered care and professional growth/ development of our staff

From your first day on our unit, our Unit Based Educator with work with you to provide a tailored orientation that is comprehensive, yet flexible enough to provide the most positive beginning to your journey with us. We enroll all newly graduated RNs in our STAR residency program and offer a Bootcamp program for new nurse professionals. For those still working toward a degree, St Luke's offers tuition reimbursement, and for those who already have their degree in hand, St Luke's offers assistance in obtaining several advanced certifications (i.e. Med-Surg, Bariatrics, Cardiovascular, and others).
Responsibilities
- Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.
- Documents information in patient record.
- Performs various direct patient care activities under direction of licensed patient care provider.
- Communicates information with patient care providers and other nursing staff members to facilitate patient care.
- Assists physicians and other nursing staff members with procedures as appropriate.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
