Job Summary:
The Physical Medicine Aide will assist the therapists in the provision of patient care through unskilled support services. They will assist in monitoring and ordering necessary supplies, the cleanliness of the department, refilling expendable materials, assist in front office operations and other non-skilled duties as assigned to enhance the efficiency of the therapist's schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Assists therapists in the provision of non-skilled services included but not limited to equipment/room setup, equipment follow, and assessment and preparing patient readiness. Recognizes and communicates changes in a patient status in a timely fashion. Recognizes impending emergencies and reacts appropriately. Provides input into their job duties and policies to enhance the delivery of care.
- Maintains sanitary treatment/work environment including but not limited to equipment cleanliness, linen changing and replenishment, adheres to proper hand-washing techniques, , etc.. Refills all needed supplies in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for ordering and tracking necessary supplies in coordination with managers/director. Assists and provides input in department projects such as researching costs of new equipment as needed.
- Assists in developing a daily schedule for therapists and providing feedback to the manager/director.
- Assist with department clerical functions: answers phone, scheduling, communication boards, mail, copayments, faxing, copying, data entry, etc.
- Transport patients when necessary to or from the department and assisting patients on/off equipment as needed in a nonskilled manner.
- Assists in tracking key metrics for quality, regulatory or efficiency reasons and timely reports these indicators to the manager/director.
- Maintains knowledge of set up and basic functions of department equipment (lifts, adaptive equipment, exercise equipment, etc.).
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma preferred
Experience:
Previous Physical Medicine department or patient care experience is preferred
Training/License:
BLS required
