Department: CTH Prof Svc Admin FTE: 1.00 Full Time (30 - 40 hours per week) Shift: Days
Position Summary: Responsible for the daily operation of the outpatient rehabilitation services. Serve as a clinical resource for department staff. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities: * PATIENT CARE - Ensure the delivery of quality Physical, Occupational, and Speech-Language therapy services for inpatients/outpatients by identifying patient needs and developing quality clinical therapy programs * SUPERVISION - May supervise and coordinate the activities of Physical, Occupational, Recreation, Speech Language Therapists and techs in carrying out treatment programs for patients * SUPERVISE - Supervise the development of patient care plans and treatments and the recording of patient progress; ensure medical record contains necessary and appropriate information * SCHEDULE - Coordinate staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage; adjust/change schedules as necessary; Oversee patient schedules to ensure appropriate care * SUPERVISION - In conjunction with experienced Occupational, Physical, Recreation and/or Speech-Language therapists, provide clinical direction to staff * RESOURCE - Serve as a clinical resource to staff by providing co-treatments and department in-services * COMMUNICATION - Develop and maintain community relationships; Develop and maintain good communications and relationships with staff and departments * PROBLEM SOLVING - Recognize problems, identify the cause and take corrective action; Inform the department director of activities, problems and needs within the department * DATA - Assist in developing and maintaining department records and reports, and in collecting statistical data * TRAINING - Conduct internal training programs for medical, nursing, and ancillary staff on therapy techniques and objectives * QUALITY - Regularly audits patient records and charts to evaluate the level and quality of patient care provided * COMPLIANCE - Ensure staff compliance with established policies and procedures, professional standards and practice, and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies * QUALITY - Assist in formulating and screening Quality Assurance criteria and providing in-service training for staff; ensure high quality, cost effective patient care * QUALITY - Implement quality assurance and safety standards consistent with TJC and OSHA regulations pertaining to rehabilitation services * DUTIES - Perform all duties outlined in job description of applicable discipline * BUDGET - Assist in developing departmental budget, monitor and approve expenditures, ensure fiscal responsibility * ADMINISTRATION - Perform clerical duties such as maintaining statistics, writing patient charges, and answering telephone * PATIENT CARE - Perform staff therapist duties in accordance with professional preparation and licensure * GOALS - Support, promote and participate as appropriate in the development and revision of departmental and hospital goals, objectives, policies, procedures, projects and programs as assigned * SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure, supervise employees - select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives * PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols * PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes * PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk * PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner * PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
Experience: Essential: 2 years directly related experience
Nonessential: 5 years directly related experience
Credentials: Essential: * CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days * NM PT or OT or SLP License
Physical Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
