Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Infection Prevention Practitioner (RN) at Overlook Medical Center, to work from 8 AM to 4 PM, including weekends and on-call as requested by department.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Surveillance. Reviews positive lab reports daily via EPIC and is responsible for organizations policy identification of MDRO's and organisms of epidemiologic significance and takes appropriate action. Conducts electronic chart reviews. Conferences with staff (nurses, physicians, therapists, techs) as needed. Participates in unit-based rounds, for adherence to infection prevention practices. Collects denominator data as needed. Performs Chart Audits for potential Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) as possible sentinel events. Generates and presents monthly and quarterly infection reports.
Conducts nursing, physician, and support staff orientation on monthly basis and as needed. Provides disease specific and practice related formal and on the spot unit based in services. Provides disease specific information to patients and families as needed. Maintain visibility on units as a resource and responds to information requests from the public health departments. Attends any meetings for the organization as requested.
Maintains the guidelines and /or standards as outlined by OSHA, CDC, JC, NJDHSS, SHEA, HHS, NQF and CMS to optimize patient care and provide a safe environment for physicians, staff, patients and visitors. Complies with communicable disease reporting requirements via NJ CDRSS.
Actively participates in county and state task force initiatives as needed.
Provides information as needed to OMS and public health colleagues related to infections/exposures of healthcare workers. Initiates communicable disease exposure process as indicated. Assists OMS and Occupational/Environmental Safety rounds as needed.
Product Evaluation and Construction Project Review: Reviews literature for new or alternative products that have infection prevention and or safety impact (i.e. skin preps, sharps, device securement, and hand hygiene) Assists in coordination of unit-based trials, evaluations and implementation. Creates Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) permits, monitors construction projects as per organizational policy.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirments:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power Point knowledge
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required
Education:
BSN preferred
License/Certifications:
Valid New Jersey Nursing License required
CIC preferred
Relevant Experience:
2 years clinical experience in an acute care setting
