Position Summary & Mission This position provides direct clinical services to clients and provides Mental Health Professional (MHP) supervision to non-MHP members of the Community Re-Entry Program (CRP). The MHP screens individuals for program eligibility provides counseling, case management and advocacy to CRP clients, with the goal of reducing recidivism into the Jail. When appropriate, works to reduce reliance on ER's and use of both medical and psychiatric inpatient hospitals. Assists clients with developing and using natural supports, with obtaining and maintaining stable living situations, obtaining necessary medical care and with the development of healthy and positive coping skills. Advocates for clients with landlords and the courts, and works cooperatively with the Jail staff and all court staff. As necessary, provides crisis intervention and support to CRP clients in the community. Essential Functions/Competencies1. Provides MHP level supervision to non-MHP staff.2. Provides effective clinical case management services to improve CRP clients' ability to live successfully in the community.3. Completes clinical documentation in a timely, accurate manner.4. Completes progress notes on time for each service providing a clear, concise description of the client's progress towards treatment goals, being sure to document any risk concerns.5. Practices effective caseload management in ways that meets productivity expectations.6. Completes administrative documentation in a timely and accurate manner.Secondary Functions

Attends and participates in all community meetings, interacting in a collaborative, professional and constructive manner.
Attends all Program and Agency mandated trainings and meetings.Job Scope Mental Health Professionals work semi-independently managing a caseload of consumers in a highly competent and professional manner. They also may coach and support non-MHP staff and may sign off on non-MHP documentation. Work involves a significant variety of non-routine tasks of moderate complexity which are guided by formal policies and general procedures. While this position has limited direct budgetary accountability, errors in work can have significant impact on customer service, clinical outcomes, and liability implications. Supervisory Responsibility Some incumbents may occasionally supervise interns.Communication/Customer Contacts This position involves a high frequency of communication, in various forms, verbal and written, with clients, other staff, and community partners. Must be able to successfully navigate different systems and partners, with the goal of promoting success for CRP clients. Must also abide by all confidentiality laws and pertinent codes of conduct. Knowledge and Skills A knowledge and understanding of mental disorders; familiarity with the DSM-V and competency in accurate diagnoses; knowledge of the major components of a mental status examination and competency in performing on-going assessments; ability to implement a continuum of care for consumers based on consumer need and level of functioning; ability to develop and implement treatment plans; a basic knowledge of psychotropic medications with the ability to recognize side-effects; sound clinical skills and a high degree of professionalism; a basic awareness of substance abuse/dependence issues; a thorough knowledge of community resources and the ability to develop appropriate links for consumers; well-developed skills in managing time, priorities, and paperwork; a sensitive perception of the needs of individuals with disabilities; a keen understanding of the importance of clear, professional boundaries, and maintenance of such; possession of proven teamwork skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; and demonstration of good, common sense. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and the ability to collaborate effectively with external partners is an absolute must.Education and/or Experience Master's degree in a mental health related field and two years' relevant experience. Must be a recognized Mental Health Professional as defined in WAC 246-341-0200/RCW 71.05020. Must be eligible for a Washington State Department of Health Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration or other licensed mental health credential. Job Conditions Must be able to drive a car; possess a good driving record; provide proof of auto insurance; be able to work both in and out of the office and go into consumers' residences, which may require climbing stairs and walking on uneven terrain. Must be able to speak and hear at normal conversational levels. Must be able to pass the background check in order to be able to see CRP clients in the Pierce County Jail.#LI-JG1
