Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. He/she is responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise on consults, community care processes and regulations. The Registered Nurse will serve as a liaison to both internal and external providers and will be responsible for managing the care of the Veteran and the seamless transition to and from the community. He/she possesses the knowledge related to VHA guidelines, utilization review criteria, current evidence-based standards of care, compliance guidelines and local policy related to Delegation of Authority as established by the facility Chief of Staff. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community. The Nurse demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The nurse is a PROFICIENT nurse, \"who understand a situation as a whole, because they perceive its meaning in terms of long-term goals. The proficient nurse learns from experience what typical events to expect in each situation and how plans need to be modified in response to these events. The Nurse looks for opportunities to improve practice or functions at the unit level for a group of patients, using group process to accomplish this, for example, organizing, leading, or facilitating interdisciplinary team meeting. Care will be provided in the least restrictive, most cost-effective manner through use of the clinical practice guidelines and clinical pathways. Evidence of health promotion and chronic disease indices will be monitored through the clinical practice guidelines and performance measures.
