The role you’ll contribute:
Coordinates shift staffing, facilitates patient flow, serves as resource person and hospital management representative for the assigned shift; and facilitates the delivery of patient services from all hospital departments during the evening and night shifts.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Determines shift staffing needs based on census, patient acuity, and unit matrix.
Assures appropriate mix and allocation of staff on the patient care units in compliance with scheduling policies.
Facilitates patient flow throughout the facility.
Addresses barriers that preclude timely discharge of patients pending discharge.
Facilitates movement of transfers to lateral or alternative levels of care
Works in collaboration with Patient Placement and CV Coordinator to assign patients to appropriate beds/nursing units.
Monitors bed utilization/verification on a continual basis.
Ensures patients admitted in late evening, are actually transported to the appropriate unit, as early as possible.
Verifies actual unit census, so that staffing decisions can be based on accurate patient volume.
Performs frequent rounding to monitor appropriate bed utilization.
Interfaces with admitted patients waiting for extended periods of time
Assists NRO and Nursing Team in maximizing seasonal and premium pay plans.
Approves and signs traveler and agency pay sheets at end of shift worked.
Assures end of first shift evaluations are done for contract agency.
Utilizes appropriate resources for patient advocacy which may include collaboration with and intervention from:
Nursing Leadership
Medical Staff
Case Management
Spiritual Services
Successfully completes required unit based and organizational annual competency, including cultural competency assessment.
Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and use of approved abbreviations.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with one year in a supervisory capacity in Acute Care
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Florida or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement.
ACLS, BLS, PALS
NIHSS from Know Stroke (NIHSS from American Heart Association will be accepted upon hire, subsequent renewals must be completed through Know Stroke)
