Incumbent may be assigned to any areas of the medical center to assist with telephonic and reception duties. Incumbent will assist patient with miscellaneous needs such as directions for service needs, waiting room, etc., provide basic customer service assistance and information to patients such as directions to the clinics check in desk, other clinics such as Specialty Care clinics, Compensation & Pension, Primary Care Modules, nearby food services, other areas of the campus. If a doctor or clinician is performing a procedure or exam and needs a specific supply, the employee would be asked to retrieve the item and bring it to the clinician. Incumbent ensures that there is a wheelchair available at all times for unexpected patient use/need. The incumbent may serve as escort for Veterans to their medically approved appointments within V APIHCS and or community hospitals and agencies. When appropriate, maintains visual contact with escorted Veteran and accompanies them to areas required during the appointment. May provide companionship to Veterans in need of supervision as a substitute for restraints and other measures to provide a safe environment. The incumbent will be performing removal of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) from patient areas post use and following correct procedures for cleaning and removal. In room cleaning of non-removable RME per policy. The employee will wipe down exam tables, counters and equipment that remains in the room to ensure the room is clean and prepared for the next exam/patient. In addition, provides basic wiping down of all high touch surfaces in clinic. Room set up and supply stocking daily to ensure the exam rooms are stocked with supplies needed for exams such as dressings, ointments, bandages, etc. Room set up also can include making copies of the patient education stocked materials in exam rooms and restocking each room as needed to ensure they are available when the provider or nurse needs to provide the education material to the patient. Room cleaning post visit, this would also include, checking garbage's, floors for items and contacting Housekeeping for additional cleaning if needed. Returning Nursing items (router sleeves) to the nurse's station. Contacts Housekeeping if there are empty soap dispensers, hand sanitizers, paper towels, etc. Interactions with care providers, LPNs, and other staff. As part of the care team, may be called upon to assist with obtaining items needed, such as dressings, linens, etc. Work Schedule: TBD- Normally a four-day, ten-hour shift Position Description Title/PD#: Health Aid/ Physical Requirements: The work requires long periods of standing, with minor bending, lifting and pushing. The work may include carrying different sizes and weights of items. The work also requires agility and dexterity to handle papers, books, charts, boxes of copier paper and medical supplies.
