New York Institute of Technology’s College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counseling  to join our M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program, to start September 1, 2024.

Teaching, scholarship, and service to the department, college and institution at large. Available course topics include assessment, advanced techniques, group counseling, psychopharmacology and fieldwork courses. There will be opportunity to develop new courses based on the candidate’s expertise. This position will be based in the Old Westbury and serve both the Long Island and New York City campuses.

• Ph.D. in Counselor Education, Counseling or Counseling Psychology, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
• Licensure by a state professional counseling licensure board.
• An active research agenda with evidence of scholarly productivity including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Familiarity with the CACREP accreditation standards.
• Experience teaching online and blended format classes.

Preferred qualifications for the position include:

• Experience working as a professional counselor in clinical settings.
• Successful experience as a counselor educator.
• Licensure (and familiarity with the requirements for licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor) in the state of New York.
• Experience developing courses including changing formats (e.g., from face-to-face to fully online).
