The primary purpose of the dedicated charge registered nurse is to function as a frontline leader within Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) to maintain responsibility for the operations of the nursing unit over a specific time period. The charge nurse demonstrates leadership in the application of the nursing process as it relates to clinical practice, teaching, leading staff, managing operational processes, and ensuring that patient needs are met. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
