The incumbent reports to the Lead Technologist, Sleep Disorders Center, who reports to the Chief or Respiratory Therapy, Chief of Medicine and to the Administrative Director and Clinical Director. The Medical Director has staff authority of the overall functioning of the Sleep Disorders Center, and reports to the Chief of Medicine who reports to the Chief of Staff. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/28/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. The MIT alerts supervisory staff to any deviations in technical or professional performance and works with the supervisory level for any needed interventions. The MIT will serve both internal and external customers. This includes patients, family members, physicians, licensed independent practitioners, nurses, volunteers, allied health professionals and all VA employees. The incumbent will ensure productivity is maintained at the established level for the program for which they are responsible. The incumbent will handle conflict and problems relating to all customers in a constructive and appropriate professional manner. Independently explains the procedures and positions the patients for a variety of procedures considering the patient's age, mental and physical status in order to alter the information delivery to the patient. Performs triage, rearranges schedule according to patient priorities, oversees lower graded employees. Provides an assessment of the patient's condition throughout the patient's stay in the Department and responds appropriately when a patient's condition falls below the baseline assessment of what is stable. Checks in and stages patients for Sleep screening and CPAP clinics. Assists patients with proper fit for CPAP equipment and masks.
