Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.
Job Description
MSK is transforming and modernizing its data centers to a Software Defined Network environment. Do you have proven foundational knowledge and experience with data center-centric networking concepts and technologies? If you are hardworking and interested in being part of an innovative team, this is the perfect role for you!
You will be encouraged to explore the newest technologies available to meet the Hospital's future needs. The role focuses on modern campus network virtualization, convergence, and security.
You will:
- Troubleshoot any switching and routing issues.
- Be responsible for installing network equipment, including data racks, patch panels, cable trays, network devices, and components.
- Replace faulty network hardware components as needed.
- Provide support data center networks using Cisco's Nexus platform, i.e., 7K, 9K, FEX, and Cisco's Catalyst platform, i.e., 9000- and 4500-series.
- Provide support data center networks using Arista platforms, i.e., 7500, 7800, and 7280 series.
- Provide support optical networks using Ciena platforms, i.e., 6500 series and 5171.
- Communicate with server administrators to quickly identify network-related issues.
You have:
- Experience with optical platforms (i.e., Ciena 6500 and Ciena 5171)
- Solid understanding of troubleshooting network-related issues (i.e., with span/mirror, tap aggregation, tcpdump, wireshark, etc.)
- Experience in implementing large-scale networks with hierarchical (three-layer) internetworking model: access, distribution, and core layers.
- Working knowledge in technologies used in Arista switches, i.e., MLAG, CVP.
- Proven experience with layer 2 network security technologies, such as port-security, DHCP snooping, 802.1X, NAC, ARP inspection, etc.
- Solid grasp of Layer 3 routing protocols, such as OSPF and BGP.
- Strong understanding of network applications, i.e., TACACS, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, SMTP, HTTPS, Multicast, SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, NTP, certificate, etc.
- Good understanding of layer 2 extension protocols; OTV and VXLAN.
Nice to have:
- Have experience in Linux/Unix and MS Windows servers, Active Directory and LDAP, VMWare, and open-source applications
- Basic knowledge of data center areas, including, but not limited to, storage environments (i.e., Islion, NetApp), virtual environments (i.e., dvSwitch, dvPortGroup, VMware), and backup environments (i.e., Cohesity).
