The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institutes of Health (NIH) is recruiting a hepatologist to the Liver Diseases Branch (LDB) (https://www.niddk.nih.gov/research-funding/at-niddk/labs-branches/liver-diseases-branch).   The appointment will be as Staff Clinician who will have several responsibilities.  

The incumbent is expected to and will have resources and personnel support to conduct clinical and translational research related to liver disease.  The incumbent will be a faculty member of the NIH Clinical Center hepatology/gastroenterology inpatient, outpatient and consultation services and take a leadership role in training and supervising fellows and rotating residents and students. The incumbent will work as a member of a dynamic clinical team consisting of other faculty, fellows, other trainees and research nurses.  The position requires excellent clinical hepatology and gastroenterology skills. The LDB of NIDDK is located on the main campus of the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.

The NIDDK Intramural Research Program provides extensive opportunities for collaboration with the diverse and dynamic medical community at NIH, mostly located on the Bethesda campus.  The NIH Clinical Research Center, with 200 beds, and outpatient clinics, provides care exclusively to patients who are participating in clinical trials.  Extensive training opportunities in clinical research are available, including a Master’s of Health Science program run jointly by NIH and Duke University.  In addition to full federal benefits, salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments in the range of 200K’s.
