The post holder manages the RLH Aftercare Programme under the leadership and supervision of the Programme Manager. The post holder manages a case load of substance dependent clients (i.e. high-risk individuals, such as offenders who may also have mental health challenges) and provides substance abuse treatment using best practice treatment modalities in an in-prison and aftercare treatment setting. The post holder will conduct assessments, provide individual and group counseling, facilitate didactic classes/seminars, develop, implement and update treatment plans, maintain clinical files, collect statistical data and report on client outcomes both written and verbal. They will liaise with community stakeholders/outside agencies such as Court Services. The post holder will provide direct supervision to clients and perform additional duties as requested by the Programme Manager.
The post holder in collaboration with the clinical team and the clients will make decisions concerning client eligibility for care and the readiness of clients to move from one phase of treatment to another. The post holder can be left in charge of the Programme in the absence of the Programme Manager or Programme Director and will be responsible for making clinical and operational decisions during those times including but not limited to intervening in crisis or emergency situations.
A minimum of five (5) years of counseling experience with three (3) of the five (5) years as a direct treatment provider of alcohol and/or other drug related problems.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical discipline such as Human Services, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing or a relevant field of study is required.
